Full Moon: January 10-12

Keywords: Lunar eclipse, eclipse season, heart chakra, clear communication, emotional energy, liberation, setting the stage, expression, family dynamics, authoritarian, strength, protection

There’s a lot of astrological factors at play during this full moon. So many, in fact, that we can’t tackle them all. So we’re just going to focus on the Lunar Eclipse in Cancer.  For more information about all the other things happening this full moon we suggest checking out Astrology King and Forever Conscious.

What Do You Know About Crabs?

Seriously though? Are you a Cancer or are you close to one? Because if so, you know that Cancer life can get a bit watery, emotional and sensitive. Cancers have a lot of feelings and in 2019, they missed out on having a full moon in their sign to help align their souls and shake up their heart chakras. You see, all zodiac signs get their own full moon each year. Ancients believed that when the full moon fell in your sign, your soul had the opportunity to align with the astrological flow of the universe. You could essentially make your peace with what’s what, release the bad and shift more easily into the good. The collective consciousness also taps into the energies and characteristics of the particular astrological sign that the full moon is in.

So because Cancer missed out on their own full moon in 2019, that Cancer energy in all of us has been building up, needing some direction and looking for release and illumination. And not only will the first full moon of 2020 be in the sign of Cancer, it will also be a lunar eclipse. This lunar eclipse, combined with the solar eclipse of December 26 leads us into an eclipse phase that will show its effects through to June, 2020.

Okaaayyyy, So What’s That Mean?

Essentially, whatever happens or comes to light under this full moon will shape the first half of 2020. This is a highly energetically charged time, one in which we can actively set the tone for the next six months of this new decade. And while Cancers can get a bad rap for being super watery and emotional, Cancers are ruled by their heart chakras, so you will have a supercharged and super clear pathway to your inner being and the true desires of your own heart over the next few days. Sitting with yourself, you will be able to hear more clearly exactly what you want for your life over the next six months.

This Is The Time, This Is The Hour

Under this full moon, we will all be inspired by the essence of the crab. If you have noticed around you that others are shape shifting in interesting ways (finding new jobs, transitioning into new roles, itching to make drastic moves), you aren’t alone. Cancers, represented by the crab, are homebodies for sure, but once they grow out of their home, they have no trouble scurrying along the beach to a new one. So if you are feeling the need to move out of your old routines and roles, this is the time. We are reaching a point in humanity where there is no looking back in so many ways. The devastating state of our planet currently is so tragic and we will feel this in our hearts under the full moon. For many of us, looking back is not an option. We must forge forward and find new homes, new places to be and new experiences to fulfill us.

Let It Go

Seriously. If there is anything from the past decade that you are hanging on to – past resentments, old goals that need reshaping, bad habits – now is the time to drop it. We will be fully supported under this full moon when we make clear intentions to shed anything that no longer serves us. While this is a recurring practice under full moons, the lunar eclipse bringing in a new decade will amplify the monumental support you will get to back this up. Give yourself time to lean into the shadow side of your soul and uncover what’s there that you don’t want to bring with you into the next decade. You don’t have to.

Communicate

Finally, this is an excellent full moon for communication. Communicate with your heart and soul and speak your truth. Be honest with yourself, and those who depend on you. If you have something to let out, the full moon will help ensure your communication is supported with your intention.

Full Moon: July 16 – 19

Key Words: Eclipse, release, reset, intense emotions, feminist energy, acknowledgement of our needs, clearing baggage and old thought patterns, intuition, authority, seat of power

July’s full moon aligns with a lunar eclipse, working to amplify the potency of the energies around us. It’s like a regular full moon only stronger and more intense. If you are feeling a bit sluggish, heady, unsettled, hungry, creative, jumpy and are having difficulty focusing, you are experiencing the effects of the moon and the eclipse. Don’t fight it. Acknowledge what is happening on a physical level so that you can embrace the opportunities for growth and empowerment that are happening on a deeper level.

In fact, your emotions and physical reactions in general may have been more intense since the beginning of July with the new moon, which started with a solar eclipse and took us right into Mercury Retrograde. Sensations of feeling scattered and ungrounded are normal, as well as frustrations with human-made products and processes such as technology and transportation.

Expect to feel the reverberations of this astrological activity. The best way to deal with it is to understand what is happening and leveraging it to your advantage.

The Potential For Power Struggles

Have you been confronted with power struggles these past 6 months or so? With the Lunar Eclipse in close conjunction with the planet Pluto, there is an opportunity that the struggles we have been having within our various relationships may come to a head. In fact, expect confrontation, causing uncomfortable situations with less than desirable outcomes. And these power struggles may not only be with others. The astrological activities have our fight or flight reactions cued and our egos are working in overdrive, so it isn’t uncommon if you have been facing off with yourself lately either. You could be reverting to habits and self-destructive thoughts.

Ride the wave of your emotions, that are likely to be more sensitive this full moon. Practice mindfulness in your reactions to others and frustrating situations as well as in your reaction to yourself. Be kind to yourself. Don’t get mad if an action has not resulted in the desired outcome. Don’t start kicking yourself for missing a work out or a high pressure deadline. This full moon brings with it an excellent opportunity to release old imbalances and thought patterns. If you look hard enough, you might find that the battles you have been fighting with others or your ego the past six months are actually only hurting you. Is it worth it to hang on to bad energy?

But Take That Personal Power Back!

While we should work to avoid unnecessary and unproductive power struggles with others, this is an excellent full moon for taking back our personal power in whatever method best serves you. Part of taking back our personal power means letting go of people, situations, thought processes and bad habits that simply do no serve. When we no longer allow external forces to cause tension within our souls, we are on our way to reclaiming our personal power that may have been too caught up in our egos, ultimately holding us back from our proper purposes and full potentials.

The Ultimate Release and Reset

As the moon will be physically eclipsed, we on earth will go dark. During this darkness, we are called to release old ideas and behaviours and rebirth ourselves with a promising reset. This is actually an incredibly exciting opportunity to reset our paths and re-align ourselves with new goals, new possibilities and embark on a journey that feeds our souls deeper than before.

This Is A Turning Point, A True Opportunity

July’s full moon is truly a magical one. That said, it is also one in which we are called to be present and focused on ourselves rather than peering too much into the future. The potential for growth by shedding the past is so potent at the moment. It is important we remain grounded in our feelings and take the time to acknowledge and recognized anything you want to leave behind, so that you can make space for the new and exciting things that making their way to you.

Everything You Need to Know: Friday's Lunar Eclipse and Blood Moon Blog Image

The Blood Moon is coming in HOT this Friday, bringing with it the longest lunar eclipse of the century. If you thought that the new moon energies of July 12th were intense, Friday’s full moon will bring some serious cosmic energies that may test our human capacities for stabilizing emotion and our responses to touchy interactions and not-so-sweet situations.

However, there’s no need to be fearful of a Blood Moon or a lunar eclipse. In fact, these phenomenons are a wonderful opportunity to work with intention towards achieving our goals, become more self-aware and to let go of everything that no longer serves us.

In order to do that, it’s great to have a clear understanding of what we are working with.

What’s a Blood Moon?

It’s totally not as sinister as it sounds. A Blood Moon is what happens when the Earth’s moon is in total eclipse. As the moon passes the Earth’s shadow, it adapts a rusty or reddish hue, as some sunlight that goes through the Earth’s atmosphere bends around the edges of our planet and will fall onto the moon’s surface.  Unfortunately, us North Americans will not be able to see the Blood Moon, while our friends in the Eastern Hemisphere will be able to get a good glimpse.

How Will The Lunar Eclipse Effect Me?

Listen, there’s no sugar coating it. If you are a subscriber and believer in the forces and power behind the moon’s phases (and if you’ve found yourself on this site, you probably are) then yes, this one’s going to be intense. This lunar eclipse is highly influenced by the planet Mars, the planet that rules our feelings of aggression, desire, anger and survival. Mars focuses on immediate action as opposed to calculated and intention-based reaction.

This means that we may be more susceptible to reckless behaviours, especially if we are faced with particularly important decisions or situations. It is important that we are mindful to react from a space of being calm rather than giving into aggressive instincts.

The trick to navigating this celestial phenomenon is to remain mindful, grounded and full of intention. A Lunar Eclipse brings with it similar energies to a full moon, only much much stronger. Therefore, while there is opportunity for disaster if we do not stay mindful, there is also great opportunity to call into play the things you want to change.

How Do I Work With The Lunar Eclipse?

Set Intentions

At Age of Lapin, we set our intentions every new moon and use the energy of the full moon to either emphasize our focus through ritual, ceremony, yoga, self-care, intention-focused meditation and mantra or journalling, OR we use the opportunity to course-correct, and set a new intention.

This powerful lunar eclipse offers us an incredible opportunity to highlight and focus on what we truly want to call into our lives. Not only is it an excellent time to reiterate what you may have set down as your intentions during the new moon, it is also an incredible opportunity to call in to play what you want to focus on and bring into your life over the next few months. Leverage the moon’s powerful energy on Friday to your advantage with an intention setting practice, such as journalling, vision-boarding or mindful meditation. The most important thing to remember is to write your intentions down, say them out loud or collage them on a vision board. Get them outside of you, into the air, the universe and into play.

Ditch What No Longer Serves You

This Lunar Eclipse is still leveraging that transformative and rebirthing energy from July’s new moon. Friday’s full moon is the perfect time to declare that you will not be carrying that which no longer offers you anything of value going forward. Look at your life and determine what you have been holding onto that has no more benefit to you. This could be an old friendship that is dragging you down, a pattern of self-doubt or a bad habit that is holding you back from your goals (i.e. negative self-talk or smoking).

Letting go is hard, but leveraging Friday’s energy will make it so much easier to stick with it. The universe wants us to have what our hearts desire so it is important to take advantage when the forces at play offer us natural gifts to rid ourselves of things that may be holding us from achieving those desires.

Embrace this time of rebirth by letting go and saying goodbye to anything that is taking you away from receiving your goals.

Gather and Embrace Ritual

One of the best ways we can leverage the energy of any full moon is by gathering and embracing a practice of ritual with likeminded friends and people. If your close group of friends aren’t into woo-woo or the moon, no worries. We love to curate full moon and new moon events happening locally from places like Eventbrite and our own beautiful community. No matter what your budget is, there are always beautiful gatherings happening throughout whatever city you live in, even free ones like the Soul Sister Gathering.

Ritual can be practiced in a group or also on your own. If you are not so inclined to join a group, embrace a time of peace for yourself where you can focus with intention on what you want to achieve and let go of. This can be something as simple as attending a yoga class, embracing quiet meditation or even indulging in a ritual of self-care and self-love.
