Owl eyes with a moon reflection and Aquarius symbol

New Moon: February 16th – 18th | Cold Moon

Moon Cycle: January 19 – February 18

Keywords: thinking, community, growth, independence.

The sun is in Aquarius aka we’re ready to be in charge of what we want. Take this time to use your motivations to drive your next moves. The easy-going airy energy from the ruling sign makes these things more achievable. Represented by the owl, the independent, wise and humble animal of the forest, we can expect to mimic exactly this. Enjoy your month, we’ve got plenty to look forward to and keep your eye on the prize. The cold moon is coming in on January 16th, which calls for bundling up, both literally and figuratively.

Community Support

It’s fair to say that as much as we want to get back out there into our “normal” life, covid seems to keep popping back up. Try to think about the fact that it’s a global experience we’re going through as individualized as it may seem because we’re all facing different things from this pandemic. Use your community for support to do the best that you can with the situation in front and continue to get through it together. It’s also a big-time to get social, as the airy Aquarius loves to hang. Find a way to make time for things that bring you joy and do it with a friend. Remember back when people were doing street concerts for their neighbours at the start of the pandemic? Let’s get back to those friendly vibes, with less of the unknown stress.

Words to Ourselves

Aquarius individuals like to be bold, but don’t let this get too ahead of you though. Sometimes, keeping quiet is a better response to someone irritating you than to fight it with fire. Taking the high road always leaves you feeling better than arguing and spending the rest of the day thinking about it. Especially since Aquarius is big into deep thinking let yourself have a little break when you can.

Dreamers in Reality

Now that the New Years’ buzz is fading a little bit, it’s time to get down into our goals and leave out the fluff. Aquarius energy will help by powering up its analytical side. How can you make your dream a reality? By living it! Maybe the old fake it till you make it is exactly what we need (but don’t forget to feel your true feelings).

Lunar New Year

On February first, the Lunar New Year is coming in with a roar with the tiger representing it. You can find more about the Lunar New Year in our New Year vs birthday reset poll debate article here where we asked our Instagram followers which feels like more of a reset to them.

A person’s hand touching a white cake with a pink tiger on it.

We’re about a week into the New Year and how are we all feeling? Motivated, enthusiastic, nervous? There are endless things we could be, let’s just make sure we’re being self-aware! As we step into 2022, Age of Lapin is wishing everyone good vibes to come.

Year of the Tiger

Tuesday, February 1st marks the Lunar New Year, with the tiger being this year’s Chinese Zodiac sign. Lasting until January 23rd, 2023, we’ll be facing all things with strength and bravery. One of the main colours for this tiger-based year is blue, which brings a sense of tranquility. Add Eye of the Tiger by Survivor to your playlist and work 2022.

New Year vs Birthday Reset Poll

We asked our Instagram followers through a poll that feels like more of a reset to them, New Year’s Eve or their birthday. The answers: 55% NYE and 45% B-days. Here are what some followers had to say:

  • “Neither. I feel like September is the reset – I still get those back-to-school vibes despite having been out of school for over 10 years. I also find September to be a time to slow down and resented and dig into projects after the flurry of activity that is summer.”
  • These are essentially the same for me! Lol! My birthday is today Dec. 30th. For me, a trigger for reset is more within rather than an external date.”
  • “For me, New Years is Halloween where the Pagan calendar resets. So for me it’s I have two or three times a year that are kind of a reset so my birthday is it in my bond and spring that’s the opposite of Halloween and then Halloween which is Samhain.”

Some Thoughts:

New Year’s Eve could be looked at as a globally bigger reset as it’s something that people in every country experience at the same time. Birthdays perhaps take on a more personal approach. Whatever the day or vibe is for you to reset, remember to take the time to do it!

Thank you so much to everyone who participated! We love getting to chat and interact with you.

This season is all about doing what feels right to you and the Capricorn intelligence is backing you up every step. You’ve come a long way and acknowledging that is only the first step of an important journey. With the Winter Solstice, Wolf Moon, intuitive thinking, and more. This season (which lasts until Jan. 19th) is going to give you the energy you’ve been needing for that extra step up in your life.

The GOAT

Capricorn’s stick to themselves and then behind them is a world of knowledge. To put it simply, they are super wise and determined. As an analytical sign, their knowledge is always proven by facts, whether it’s been read in a book, documentary, art you name it, they know it or will be interesting in learning about it. They’re quiet but loud when they’re in their element. As an earth sign, they’re grounded, but as their own Capricorn selves, they can be choosey of who they hang with, so their inner circle is super important to them. Represented by the goat, it’s clear that they have a good leadership role. Think of those real-life GOATS (Greatest of All Time) in your life, chances are they’re a Capricorn.

Only Stretch for Workouts

If you’re feeling comfortable express yourself. If you want to chill then just observe from the side and enjoy whatever thoughts come up while people watch. You can either stress over a situation or choose to embrace the ride that’s ahead. Which will be a big theme this season. You’ll be feeling motivated to get things done and which will contribute to feeling content after. But don’t get too ahead of yourself. Make plans or do things that are within your limits. It’s not the time (it never is actually the time) to stretch yourself because you think it’s needed. Find a way to balance everything so you don’t end up feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

Winter Has Arrived

On December 21st we’re welcoming the Winter Solstice also the shortest day of the year. What does this mean in terms of things coming up for the past, present, and future? Think of it as a rebirth. We’ve been carrying a lot on our shoulders so it’s time to take things into the New Year with a little less weight than we have been. Take the Winter Solstice prep for the upcoming year and sit with your thoughts, enjoy the outdoors, and unleash your creative side. The first full moon of 2022 will be on January 17th and is known as the Wolf Moon. The full moon will be in Cancer, so the strength from the wolf will be able to help keep the high emotions of the water sign calm. Stick with your pack going into 2022, you know who the real ones are.

Inner Circle Strength

Represented by half person half horse, they show characteristics of strength, resilience and power. When they walk into a room their presence is known. They’re super confident, and they’re happy to transfer that confidence to the people around them. The ones they love are so lucky because they’re extremely loyal and do everything possible to protect them. They like to stay feeling free so being tied down isn’t something they typically enjoy but will do it for their inner circle. They’re always thinking of the ones they love, even though they may not seem like it because their not much bothers them mantra.

Confidence is Key

You may find yourself taking on a lot in many aspects of life. As a half horse, Sag’s tends to carry the load of others. If people are opening up to you with personal stories, it may be heavy on your heart. You may also find your work life to be hectic, but remember it’s because you’re such an asset. So with that, time for self-care is extra needed during the next month. Write a list of all of the things that you love to do to tune into your most peaceful state and try to do once a day! Your relationships in life will be ready to take the deeper steps as your loyalty grows stronger. Really take in the moments that you notice opening up with family, friends, partners… Remember the confidence of a Sagittarius and stand tall!

The Many Moons of Sag Season

A new moon and solar eclipse land on December 4th, which means future intention making time. We’ve been working so hard at our dreams and maybe even feel like they’re too far away to reach some days. Write it all down. Put it on your vision board. Just get it out of your head and into the universe. Focus on the thing that you’re worried may or may not happen and instead of letting it consume you so you can’t take action, let it start taking action on its own. We’re going to be focusing a lot on our inner circle so we need to also take the time for ourselves. On December 18th, we’re welcoming the Full Moon (Cold Moon), which gets its name from the rather chilly months we have approaching. Get snuggled up in your layers and take the time to really chat this season.

Full moon, mars and mercury lined up in the night sky with clouds underneath

Scorpio season has started and that means we may be facing some ups and downs. From October 23rd to November 21st, we’re in for chatting, love and self-accountability. We’ve spent a lot of time planning for personal actions to take place and now it’s time to get it done. We all know how we’d want to live each day, so let’s go make it a reality.

Small Changes Make Mighty Actions

As a true water sign, Scorpios are caring, intuitive and thoughtful, but with an extra twist. Being represented by a scorpion, powerful and sharp, is where the plot twist comes in. They like to do things their own way. They can go through multiple emotions a day and almost like a chameleon, will adjust to their surroundings. They won’t be impressed if things don’t go as they should be based on others not following through or putting effort in. Scorpios aren’t afraid to hold back the truth, so communication is always a big one with them. This becomes especially prominent when telling the truth and Scorpios don’t forgive easily when being lied to. This also has to do with their high levels of passion running through their veins, adding a little fire to their fuel wherever they go. Being represented by two ruling planets,

You’re in Charge

Take full control of your life this season. Even though you may have some people that you go to for regular advice, which is amazing to have constant support. But at the end of the day, you know what’s truly right for you. leave a little mystery wherever you go like a true Scorpio. Starting each day with a journal could be a perfect way to start your morning intuitively. With that, you can also expect some romance. Whether that be with a partner or just yourself, spend it phone-free and focus on open communication. Whether it’s a Netflix and chill night in or a nice dinner, remember that transformations are bound to happen this season and Scorpio’s energy is behind you with each step. Gaze into your or your lover’s eyes and think about what you truly want to bring to add to the picture. Self-discovery will be a returning theme this month, so keep an eye out for changes coming your way. We should also take some time to look into our finances and see what is it that we truly enjoy spending our money on and what’s random purchasing. The more meaningful purchases we make and less want-based purchasing, the more we’ll appreciate and feel in control of our bank accounts.

Many Moons

On October 30th, Mars moves into Scorpio which will cause some heat. If any drama does come about, look to your personal intuition to get a clear response on what your actions should be. Don’t let the wind knock you down, dear. We have a New Moon in Scorpio on November 4th followed by Mercury heading in on November 5th. Mercury in Scorpio gives us the tools for going beyond the surface of an issue and opening up, which will be key for those date nights. Finally, a partial lunar eclipse in Taurus and Full Beaver Moon lands on November 19th. With both of these signs having super strong personalities, we can expect a rise in our personal power to give us that extra confidence boost.

Woman staring in reflection with disco moon behind her

In true Libra fashion, we can expect this upcoming season to be filled with three c’s confidence, care and commitments. We’ll be out and about a lot more than usual from the influence of this social sign and we’ll love every minute of it. From distanced chats with strangers on the street to throwing a soiree with your besties, this next month is going to be filled with plans. On September 22nd we started the season for the socials and it lasts until October 22nd. This season also starts the first day of fall and we all know what that means…sugar, spice and everything nice.

Big Hearts, Bigger Plans

This air sign is very much a go-with-the-flow type of person, which is what creates their chill aura. They’re super kind, caring creative and you can count on them to do the right thing. Being super social people that can hold a conversation no matter who they’re talking to, and their lively and kind personalities make them loved by everyone. Their need to be social can sometimes get them into a jam since they’re constantly saying yes when maybe they should be saying no. Not to mention, loyal and are a really good partner, friend, sibling, co-worker, you name it. Which also makes them super empathetic and can get their mind in a whirl when they’re taking on the problems of those around them. The sign of balance makes them an optimal candidate to give a non-biased opinion. They serve for justice and will do anything to take down the bad guy, being an awesome sidekick to have. They can come off a bit self-centered but it’s only because they’re trying to figure out how to make the best possible plan out of the situation. This can also cause them some stress because they’re always trying to do the right thing. Ruled by Venus, this beauty-driven sign is one to watch and keep close.

Social Butterflies

Your social life to soar this upcoming month. Libra energy is going to bring out our party animals and bring out the joy in plans rather than the potential stresses. We’ll be looking forward to making plans and we’re ready to step out of our comfort zones after being in our own surroundings for so long. Break out of our cocoons before we tell ourselves to snuggle back in them when winter comes. With mandatory vaccination passports set in place in Canada for going out most places as of September 22nd, in line with Libra aka social season. We’ve spent Virgo season hustling and being analytical so now it’s time to reward ourselves. Allow yourself to enjoy all of the activities and take in all of the love that you’re going to be given. Use that Venus energy to dress in an outfit you’ve been thinking of wearing but haven’t been feeling bold enough to. It’s important that we stay confident and optimistic like a true Libra with Mercury in Retrograde joining us.

Keeping Our Cool

There’s strong energy this upcoming season. Libra’s full moon lands on October 20th and goes by Hunter’s Moon as which was used as a symbolism for a time to start collecting for winter. The full moon is in Aries, which acts as an action plan and gives us the determination it takes to get the work done. This is a time to take a look at exactly what you want and figure how to make it a reality. Mercury Retrograde is from September 27th to October 18th and is the third of 2021. If you’re experiencing tech delays, extra traffic, conversations that don’t lead anywhere and canceled plans, the retrograde is responsible for that. It’s an interesting time for the Mercury Retrograde with Libra’s being social butterflies, but it’s good because they keep an open mind. That’ll give us the strength to not lose our cool if things don’t go as planned but take it as an opportunity to create another adventure. The start of Libra season also marks the autumn equinox, so things are going to get cozy. Enjoy all the pumpkin, cinnamon goodness that comes with this time (if you can consume them) and watch the leaves turn for some much-needed R&R.

Full Moon: September 20th – 21st

Keywords: organize, work, collaborate, trust, commitment, recuperate, take breaks

It’s time to take a break from the heat and chill out. Virgo season is all about getting tasks done and as summer comes to it’s time to get our grinds on, productively. We’ve taken the time to have fun in Leo season so now it’s time to take the confidence we’ve been carrying with us to Virgo season. This next month is filled with ambition, opportunity and success personally and professionally. From August 23rd to September 22nd, get ready to put in the work while living your best life.

Ambition Here We Come

Ruled by Mercury which is all about communication, this earth sign is super focused and ready to complete the task at hand with little distractions. This analytical sign has a big brain and heart which gives them a powerful stance when it comes to putting their all into projects, passions and people. With loyalty running deep it can be easy to depend on Virgo’s if you have their trust and love. By being willing to go above and beyond for the people they’re the closest to, they need to be weary to bend and not break. They’re very reliable and can count on them to follow through with their word and commitment. Represented by the Virgin who recognizes the angel and devils we both carry on our shoulders and which direction to go with. Virgo’s including Pink, Mother Theresa, Prince Harry, Beyoncé, Keanu Reeves are all prime examples of individuals who have worked their way to be known by standing by what they believe in and working hard to get there.

Work-Life Balance

This next month is all about getting down to business. If you find yourself having racing thoughts, take a minute to stop and reflect on what your chaotic thoughts are about. Just because we’re staying focused, doesn’t mean we don’t have time for some fun. This could be a perfect opportunity to collaborate with someone(s) to expand on your own ideas and stay chatty while working. While we can get wrapped up in trying to get things done as fast as possible and squeeze in as many items into our day that we possibly can, it’s crucial to give yourself breaks. Let this be a good goal-setting time for the next few work months on how you can get your work done without sacrificing your mental and physical health, plans and more to get it done. Maybe this means altering your routine to create some extra me-time or scheduling designated break times and actually not thinking about work from your work. Putting all of these into practice will bring you to getting more work done and with a more upbeat attitude about the work ahead. I think we can tell why school was meant to start in September.

New Moon, Harvest Moon & Fall Equinox

A new moon in Virgo will appear Septmber 6th to welcome intention setting and give as half-way check-in point for this season. On September 20th we’ll witness the Harvest Moon known for its yellow appearance and as a sign to finish any tasks before things start to get a little chillier. September 22nd starts the autumnal equinox, also the first day of fall. This marks the sun rising and setting later, beautiful crisp leaves and cooler afternoons. Take time to make personal goals as well as the professional ones we mentioned. It can be super easy to get wrapped up in the hustle of to-do lists that we forgot to do ourselves. It’s also not time to be a perfectionist either. Making a goal to the journal is productive as we’re already in the groove of getting things done and it’s personal writing without needing an approval or higher-up edit. Throw on the old classic Harvest Moon by Neil Young and soak up the rest of warm nights.

Today is the only Friday the 13th of 2021, giving us some especially strong energy. In a typical year, we experience three ‘spooky days’ so today marks an extra special one. Though usually seen as an unlucky day, in the spiritual community Friday the 13th, is super uplifting. It’s all about taking charge of your feminine side and letting it shine through. The things that have been deemed unruly for women: sex, taking up space, menstruation, masturbation, speaking out, etc., take charge of it and stand tall while doing so. It’s also an important time to look at our bodies and take care of them from the inside out. Whether it’s a little love down there to make you feel like a goddess or a firey workout to up your badassness, do something to make you feel empowered. Embrace that alpha female this Friday the 13th, 2021.

Mama Moon

The number 13 is the number of moon phases we have in a year and gives out strong feminine energy. It’s currently peaking in its crescent phase, which helps us to relax and visualize intentions to bring your vibes higher. Take some time today to re-look at intentions you’ve set for Leo season, to set yourself up for a great Virgo season starting August 23rd. Crystals like moonstones are good choices for Friday the 13th because they focus directly on feminine energy and give off a chill vibe to match the crescent moon. The super grounding stone puts on a calming front, making it a superpower for walking with confidence. Keep some on you with moonstone jewelry from Lisa Maxwell or put a cluster where you get ready in the morning.

Full Moons: July 23rd & August 22nd

Keywords: fierce, independent, confident, resilient, power, putting in work, celebrations, owning yourself

Things are heating up over the next month with Leo season coming in full force, which is very on-brand. We can expect to feel super confident about ourselves this season and we will own every minute of it. Naturally, this fire sign is a leader, so be ready to take full control of your life and be prepared to give direction to others. It’s time to focus your efforts on getting work done, celebrating your successes and looking forward not back. From July 22nd, when the sets, to August 22nd, we’re being heavily influenced by the sun, which Leo is ruled by, so you can expect things to be heating up.

Goodbye Waves, Hello Sand

Looking back on Cancer season, we faced some heavy emotions so now that we experienced the water, it’s time to dry off. The transition between Cancer and Leo is super impactful because we’re used to constantly expressing and having deep conversations with the crab sign, but the lions don’t have time for that because they’d rather be celebrating. We’re coming to terms with new goals for ourselves rather than focusing on relationships and not at all in a selfish way. Last season we spent a lot of time caring for others and putting them first so now it’s our turn to embrace pampering. The all-mighty Leo isn’t represented by the Lion for no reason, they’re strong and respected and they’ve earned their roles. You may find yourself looking inwards more than outwards this season, which is a perfect time to self-reflect.

Aquarius Moon Times Two

Leo season officially starts July 22nd, when the sun leaves cancer and lasts until August 22nd. During this time we’re going to reclaim the confidence that we’ve been working on to glow the brightest that we have all summer. There will be two Aquarius full moons, one to kick off the season on July 23rd (Buck Moon) and one to finish us off on August 22nd (Blue Moon) just after midnight. We’re also going to experience a New Moon on August 8th, which is the ideal time to set intentions, so be specific, like what do you want to accomplish for the rest of the summer? With Aquarius in the picture, it will give us an independent way of thinking while adding fuel to the powerful Leo energy. As an air sign, Aquarius is naturally creative so mixed in with an already energetic fire sign, we’re in for some fun.

The Spotlight is on You

The next month you’re the main character of your favourite Netflix series and you’re going to love it. Take in your accomplishments because you’re a bad-ass that’s been working hard, which is why it’s now time to celebrate. As we transition from water to fire we’ll feel a deep building of self-confidence which is exactly what we need for the rest of the long hot summer ahead. The three words: strong, bold and fierce can be some perfect mantra words to use over this upcoming Leo season while we take the time to own who we are. Write them on your mirror, use them as journal prompts or just constantly repeat them to yourself. If you’re deciding what jewelry to wear this season, gold is Leo’s metal, making it the perfect accessory option to vibe higher.

Some items you’ll love to add for a Leo day/night out:

Full Moon: June 24th – The Strawberry Moon

Keywords: emotions, conversations, vulnerability, growth

Hey Summer

On June 21st, we welcomed the summer solstice, which marks the first day of summer and the beginning of Cancer season. The solstice also marks the halfway point of the year, where we acknowledge, celebrate and reflect on the last six months and what is to come for the remainder of the year. This time is all about self-reflection, so journaling can come in handy; to review what has happened and plan for the times ahead. You can find out more about this transitioning season that lasts until July 22nd, in one of our previous articles on the importance of rituals

Let’s Get Wet

Other than warm weather, longer nights and the sun-shining (while wearing SPF), we have got a lot of growing and feeling to do. First things first, there will be some heavy, maybe even teary moments because we are in Cancer after all. They run by emotions which causes them to be known as the most sensitive sign, but they are also very nurturing, which lets them care so much about those around them. We may find ourselves feeling all types of emotions during this season, it’s only right considering Cancer is a water sign, but being vulnerable gives us the best opportunities to grow. Cancer is ruled by the moon, which is all about intuition, wisdom and knowledge, which may make you feel wise beyond your years. They are represented by the crab, which symbolizes how the sign is shy and then will open up out of their shell once they get comfortable.

For The Ones We Love

We’ve all been on quite a ride with the pandemic and this Cancer season is about moving forward with your past to create a more meaningful future. Now is the perfect time to show compassion for those around you since this sign fuels our empathetic side, allowing us to feel almost exactly what those around us do. This protective sign gives us the chance to open up to our loved ones about those hard conversations on what is causing us to feel held back. It’s a great time to make some communication progress for emotionally packed chats, while both parties are feeling more open to being vulnerable over the next month or so. Remember those conversations with yourself too, because the better you are doing the more you can cope with the information you are taking in from other’s emotions.

Home is Where the Peace is

With things opening back up, we definitely will be enjoying being out but it’s a great time to reconnect with our home. Now that we can travel more, it will be a needed reminder of how our homes help us recharge. With being home so much, some of us may be feeling drained, by remembering that it should be a place of peace for us is super important and key in Cancer. This is the perfect time to do some self-reflection on how we can use the strategies we’ve built up over the past year to help us manage our emotional side for the future months to come. If you’re looking to rejuvinate up the spaces in your home, check out our past article on Feng Shui, to amp up the vibes in your house with plants.

The Strawberry Moon:

This full moon, which was on June 24th, was the first full of the summer season and the last of spring. The name, Strawberry Moon, comes from Indigenous Peoples, who used it as a sign to harvest strawberries, which became ripe at this time. Also, because of the way that the moon resembles the fruit with its pink colour. Though not considered a super moon, it appeared full in the sky in the late afternoon, while the sun was still out, as if it wasn’t unique enough.

What’s New?

Mercury Retrograde (May 29 to June 22) – this will help bring some balance back into our lives. It will take away some of that added internal and external back and forth we can’t seem to shake to help us feel more aligned.

Jupiter Retrograde (June 20 to Oct. 18) – reflect on the goals you set out for yourself over the last six months and be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Use this confidence to humbly grow and continue to evolve these goals for the rest of the year.

Neptune Retrograde (June 25 to Dec. 1) – with this arrangement we’ll start to see things a little bit more clearly. We’ll be opening up our minds to see things without the fantasy lens, which may help us reach our realistic goals sooner.
